The 2010 Downtown Throwdown rail jam was last weekend here in Seattle. It was a bit rainy, but the crowds still made it out and the riders still put it down. Yesterday, October 3, the 2010 Red Bull Rampage went down and showcased some legit mountain biking with riders that put it all on the line. Every time I see these guys I am blown away by the dedication they have and the risk they take for their sport of choice.

This event was fun...and I'm not just saying that because it was our event. I had a blast. Greg had a blast. Our volunteers had a great time. The riders enjoyed it. We also heard the same from Monroe locals, the Monroe Parks Department, the City of Monroe Mayor and staff, and on and on. It was fun because all of these people made it just that. Thank you. Anyone that came out and supported us...you are appreciated.
We are sifting through tons of images which we will post here on the BLOG in the coming days. Rhys Logan (rhystomahawk.com) came out to snap photos and will have them for sale for those that were asking/interested. Until then have a look at his edited video and read on ...

Well...the wedding was a success (I didn't get stood up) and the Honeymoon was a blast! Barbados was fantastic even though the waves were pretty much a no go. We did, however, get stood up by the taxi service at 5:00 AM for the trip back home. Special thanks goes out to "Chicken" ... the local Barbadian that gave Sara and I a ride to the airport on the fly...you were a Godsend! We made it to our flight just 10 minutes before check-in closed.
Greg handled the orders superbly and it turns out the company can officially run without me. I think I feel pretty good about that fact...maybe I should take more vacations.
Unexpectedly, Northwest Riders profited handsomely from the wedding. You'll notice all the sweet packaging in the BLOG photo above. NWR got the gift around the gifts that Sara and I received. Paper, plastic bags, and all sorts of shipping goodness. So just a heads up...if you receive your future order and it has some fancy tissue paper with floral designs or some other frilly protective material you have just unwittingly become a part of my holy matrimonious goodness. So...congratulations!
I look forward to getting the rest of June rolling and am pumped to be back in the office and cranking. We have a LOT on our plate right now. Looking forward to some BIG things this summer. We have some pretty sweet plans and happenings in the works that I can't quite let you all know about just yet...but stay tuned.
Happy Tuesday.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 3rd of June, I will officially become official as I tie the 'ol knot with my fiance. That's right kids...this wise old codger is getting married and will no longer be on the market. I'll pause while you shed a tear or two...
In the short term, I am going to get away from this rain-fest that is the Northwest currently and soak up some sunshine in Barbados...pending any hurricanes of course as the season has just begun there. That means that the Gregster will be handling orders and making sure the ship stays shape while I am away. Good luck my man! I highly suggest that everyone that visits the site places at least 17 orders while I am gone so Greg has plenty to fill his proverbial plate with.
In the long term, I'll be back and charging in the office on June 15th. I'm not entirely sure that qualifies as long term, but it'll have to do. If anyone needs to request anything for orders, has any website related questions, or just wonders why we're not spending all our time twittering it up...give Greg a call or drop him an email. You can get all that info here.
As always, thanks for all the support...please keep it up. Now that I am a family man the bills getting paid takes on a whole new life. See you on the other side.
-Zack-
Despite the fact that Seattle and most of the Northwest is missing the memo on the fact that it is supposed to be summer right about now, we have officially put the NWR Malibu in the water and have started wakeboarding lessons.
Last week, the Slingshot gear arrived and we couldn't be more stoked to get out and "test" it all. This year's graphics and shapes are looking good. If you want to try out the new product and see what a true flex wakeboard should ride like give us a call and sign up for a lesson.
In the next few weeks, we'll give you a full breakdown on each board so you can see what makes them tick inside and out. Stay tuned...and pray for some sunshine!

Our good friend Spencer Norris of W.I.T. productions recently posted a short little video of some random footage he had on the Northwest. The video shows a bit of life here in the PNW from the coast to the street and on up to the mountain.
The only mark against it is that his title has three too many 'Z's in it. I know that my name starts with this superior letter so singling it out is questionable...but ending anything with it gives me a feeling similar to what I imagine the feeling would be of having Cousin Eddie as a roommate. I forgive you Spencer.
Anyway, we liked it...you just might also. Click through to watch.
The National Film Festival for Talented Youth is coming to Seattle April 19 through May 2. Northwest Riders' own Brandon Robins will be on hand as a judge for the action sports category as well as longtime Wakeboard Northwest contributor and northwest photographer Bryan Myss.

I visited Brandon yesterday and all I can say is literally..."wow." The kid is amazing. Prayers are being answered and both his attitude and his physical health are positive. Visit the update after the click. >
It has been a pretty tough month over here at the NWR camp. Just a few weeks ago, our friend and team rider Hunter Graham was killed on Hayden Lake in Idaho in a jet ski accident. While I was trying to get my thoughts together on that tragic happening and put together some information to update everyone here on the site, we have had another huge weight laid out there.
On July 4th, another close friend and team rider was in an accident. Brandon Robins sustained serious injuries in a dirtbike collision and is currently undergoing various surgeries to repair the damage.
We will continue to update everyone and will be setting up a fund for donations very soon to help Brandon with the medical costs he is incurring.
Please keep both Hunter's family and Brandon and his family in your prayers.

This is by far the most comfortable tee we have ever produced...check back to buy that here on the site soon.
Our new batch of stickers came in as well and we have added a bright blue cursive die-cut to the mix. I'll post that up for purchase in the next few days. That's the news for now.

Alright folks...new contest. Those of you that know us at Northwest Riders have probably seen our ongoing collection of books that have no clear reason for being on someone's shelf. We came across some real beauties the other day and decided it was worth a giveaway or two if the NWR faithful could come up with some equally fantastic covers. So here is the gist of this contest: You come up with the best book cover as judged by us here at Northwest Riders Clothing Co. and we give you some free gear. The only rule is that you can't send in anything profane or inappropriate. If you have to ask, it probably is not appropriate...so don't send it. Any duplicate entries...we will count the first submitted and disqualify the second. We will post them up at northwestriders.com as we get them. The Twist: We are looking to ADD to our ongoing collection. So...we are grading on two points. The best cover is 50% of the judging score and the price of the book (lower the better) is the other 50% of the judging. Bonus points if you buy the book and bring it to us or send it in to our office.
1st Place - Choice of hat or beanie, and standard t-shirt + stickers
2nd Place - Choice of beanie or standard t-shirt + stickers
3rd Place - NWR sticker pack

- Include you name, email, phone, and hat/tee size
- Include a link to where we can get the book (with a price)
- We will get in touch with you at the end.
- We reserve the right to change or add to this as we go...

Back in the office and back at it. I had a nice vacation on the eastside of the state with about 4 feet of snow to shovel over Christmas. Back in the Seattle rain...
We just added to the stickers page with the NWR cursive die-cut and the screen print stickers. On another note, some of the Winter clothing is selling out pretty quick...order online or head to Grizzly-sports in Mill Creek to get your hands on it before it's gone.
We here at NWR would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We had a great 2008. Thanks for making it out to our events and clinics and buying our gear to support the brand. We appreciate our fans and customers and are excited for 2009.
The snow has hit Seattle and the rest of the northwest hard! That means great mountain conditions and excellent snowboarding and skiing. Have fun out there...stay safe, and enjoy the holidays!

A big thanks to all the people that came out to our first annual swap meet on Saturday! We had a great day of hanging out and sold some clothing and gear to top off the day nicely.
We do have plenty of great new and used gear left. We have Slingshot boards and boots at great prices, a 6'8" Lost surfboard, handles/lines and some other tasty little gems that go nice with a warm cup 'o cocoa. Send us an email or give us a call if you are looking for anything boardsport related...chances are we have it. We also have plenty of great winter garments available...they make great Christmas gifts...I'm just sayin...
We have the new gear trickling into the Northwest Riders office and it is officially Tag/Fold/Bag time. If anyone wants to have a sweet folding party give us a shout and maybe we can enlist you ... all the Red Bull you could ever want is the payment. Plus...if you have never ran the "Flip-Flop-Folder" then you are in for a very special treat. Heavy machinery it is not, but if you aren't careful it could possibly dislocate a shoulder or maybe bend a fingernail...chew on that for a bit.
A few quick updates over on the rideBLOG. Hoody one is in and the rest of the winter goods are close to the doorstep and will be available at Grizzly Sports in Mill Creek, WA and Motion Board Shop in Lake Forest Park, WA soon. The gear will also be available online at BakesOnline.com and of course here on the Northwest Riders site.
So I was not too clear yesterday on the phrase I mentioned was spoken in regards to our clothing being held up and wanted to elaborate after receiving plenty of questions on Facebook. The phrase "I am a little worried here.." was uttered from the crazy character that we purchased clothing labels from. Now I don't know about most of you...but I myself don't ever really expect to hear such reinforcing and confidence instilling words from a vendor when we are in a time crunch trying to make a deadline. On that note...the labels arrived...turns out it was the Drunken Contortionists at the border. They wanted the labels for something practical I am sure. Exactly what though we can't be too sure.

Over the years, I feel as though I’ve gotten a bad rap amongst some of my friends as the guy that “makes up stories” or “invents fictitious characters” just to be funny. My only defense has been to simply state that for some odd reason I come into contact with an enormous amount of strange people and even stranger situations. I do not seek these random people or events out, I just seem to constantly be in the right place at the right time.

Apparently I embarrassed Greg with the last news post. To those of you that do not like Harry Potter and his witchcraft or pink rhinoceros...es...es (?), I apologize.
In other news, I posted up a new rideBLOG which pretty much reiterated what I said last week here, except I added a sweet photo of some swedish dudes hoping for snow. Head on over to the rideBLOG and have a look.
We have officially hit the Fall transition between summer and winter here in the Northwest. That means that Northwest Riders Clothing Company has some new goods coming out in the next few weeks. Hoodies, tees, and some sweet custom beanies are in line and shipping soon. Check www.northwestriders.com frequently for updates and to buy the new gear when it drops. In the meantime...make sure you are as dedicated as the two swedish chaps above - take your board or skis to work day starts now.
So where have we been lately? I'd like to tell you that I just wanted to wait an exact month between posts because I got a chain letter that told me a pink rhinoceros named Stan would appear and grant me three wishes if I did...but that's just silly. In truth, the weird hat thing from Harry Potter came over the other day and has been continually distracting me whenever I attempt to update the NWR News. He just keeps screaming SLITHEREN!!! every time I hop on here...but he finally got bored and left.
So now that's cleared up and I can get to it. I am claiming the excuse of being so busy behind the scenes that the content for any news would have been boring. The work has been steady...just not noteworthy. I am officially making no sense (I have not eaten all day I think I may be hallucinating), so a note that is, in fact, worthy: We have some new hoodies and tees dropping in the next few weeks. Girls too! Blanks just arrived and the magic is set in motion. Goodness to comeNorthwest Riders Clothing Company is at "half mast" so to speek. Mr. Greg Young has set out to the open sea on a sailing voyage from the Puget Sound to San Diego. He left last Tuesday and will return, God willing, sometime toward the first of the month of October. That is tentative barring any giant octopus attacks or Greg being tossed overboard for his lack of sea worthiness.
Give me a ring or an email if you need anything...Greg will be M.I.A. with little to no contact until his return. All the info is on the contact page.

The Summer.5 line is printed and ready to ship! We have three of the summer designs with new colors and improved material, and have also added the "ROAD TRIP" tee to the mix.
This stuff won't stick around long and Summer doesn't have a whole lot of legs left...so get yours while you can!
Fall gear coming soon...
We recently returned from our Annual Church Camp retreat (Wake!Fest) where we get to spend all day in the boat teaching local high schoolers to wakeboard and wakesurf. The camp, called "Wake!Fest," has been going on in some capacity for more than 22 years and this year was Greg's 22nd and my 1st. I can see why Greg has never missed it!
Spending all day on calm water at Lake Entiat with personalities of every possible type in the boat could not have been more fun. The campers signed up for the boat they wanted (of course the NWR Malibu was booked quickly)and what followed was some great times and great memories.
We saw some amazing crashes, some new tricks landed, some first timers getting stoked, and SO much more. We hope to post some photos and videos soon. The staff took care of us better than we could have imagined and in the end I can easily say that it was one of the best weeks I have ever had.
Thanks to all the campers, staff, and friends that made this such an amazing time. See you next year!
We just had a huge sale and have blown out of nearly all our inventory from the Summer line. I will be adding the all "new" Summer.5 lineup over the next few days. The line includes the "PLAID" on all new tagless cotton, the "WHITE NOISE" on 50/50 material featuring a black tee with white print, the "SKYLINE" on kelly green tagless cotton with white print, and a 50/50 bright yellow with bright blue print tee.
Check back in a few days for the new gear. We also added the new cursive logo die-cut sticker to the fray. Thanks for all the support!
The 2008 Bakes NWI Double Up competition is coming up on Saturday, July 26th. The 4th annual event is featuring three Northwest Riders wake team members (Brandon Robins, Tom Olson, and newly added Hunter Graham). There is plenty of prize money up for grabs for the riders, and giveaways and raffles for the fans.
The event is at Gene Coulon Park in Renton, WA. Come out and enjoy the sun and some top quality wakeboarding. WakeboardNorthwest.com will have a raffle for signed copies of DRIVE, GODSPEED, and ONE EYE SHUT at our booth as well. Be sure and drop by the Northwest Riders Clothing Co. tent to enter.
Check out this little short of Northwest Riders Clothing Co. skate ripper Jake Waldrop. A day throwing down in Seattle.
We have just added two more clinic stops to the schedule. We will be out on Mason Lake in Grapeview, WA on July 11th and then down in Wilsonville, OR on July 31st. The registration for these events is now open...so head over to the Tour Page and click the registration link to reserve your spot.
We also still have spots for the upcoming Tri-Cities and Issaquah, WA stops. All the clinics tend to fill up pretty fast the week of the stop so make sure and register early so you don't get left out. Thanks everybody! Lookin forward to seeing you out on the water.
The Issaquah, WA clinics started today and run through tomorrow. There are still three spots left for tomorrow, so if you have not signed up yet...hurry! The clinics are running from the Lake Sammamish Boat Launch. Please show up 10-15 minutes early to keep things running smoothly...we have a full group.
Guest coaching is Northwest Riders Clothing Co. and Slingshot Wakeboards team rider, Brandon Robins. Brent Starr is also on hand and long time Northwest wakeboarder Bret V will be out and about as well.

It's been a bit since our last update. We have been keeping super busy with Tour prep and getting things dialed for Fall. It is weird to think ahead that far while we are still sitting here waiting for some sunshine so we can get out on the water.
As I write this, the 2008 Summer Tour has kicked off. Brent Starr, Greg, and our buddy Chris are in Idaho for the first leg of the clinic series. Have a look at the image above for a bit of a visual recap of what we have been doing thus far. If you have not signed up for a clinic yet...head to the Tour page and grab a spot before they fill up.

Also...be sure and check out the Grizzly Sports events going on this weekend. We will be out on Sunday with the full setup and showing our support for the NWR skim team as they put on what should be a great demo. Come on out to Mill Creek and say "What's Up!"
Hey friends of NWR...you are not going to want to miss this! Grizzly Sports is having a HUGE sale and event coming up on May 16-18. They will be showing "Drive" the new wake film from BFY, and on Sunday they will have a Skimboard demo that is gonna be insane! Our team (DB Skimboards crew) is putting on a flatland skim showing with rails and the works. NWR will be on hand with the Bus as well on Sunday. This will be a sweet weekend so make it out there. Check the flier above for more info (click to enlarge). We hope to see you!
Tonight! DB Skimboards is showing the all new video "For the Moment" at the Blue Mouse Theatre in Tacoma. Check the DB Skimboards BLOG here for directions and info. Click the flier photo above for the full size version.
The "Cinco Sporto" Article is up now at Wakeboard Northwest. Head on over and check it out! It has the recap write-up by Greg and some photos of everyone from the day. Should see a small photo gallery up there soon as well.
Well we did it...in a mix of Spanish/English (Spanglish?) we dubbed our adventure "Cinco Sporto Cero Ocho" and set out to cover five board sports in one day. It took us 21 hours and some mileage on the NWR Bus (yet to be officially named). Stay tuned for coverage.
If you have never checked out the web site WakeFirst.com, go have a look. The site is a "MySpace" style site for wake sports and features videos, photos, and other media. You can create your own profile and communicate with others in the area. The guys that run WakeFirst were nice enough to post up a link to our site. Click the image below to visit.
Northwest Riders Clothing Company would like to officially welcome Jake Waldrop to the family. Jake is the first skateboarder signed to the team. The kid rips on a skate...check him out at the Kenmore, WA skate park or other skate parks around the area. Welcome to the team Jake!
We added photos on the team rider page tonight. Wake team rider, Brent Starr, now has his photos up. Have a look!
Alright crew...we have added some updates to the site. Sorry for the lapse in news posts, we took some R&R last week with an amazing surf trip in the new Bus. We had bluebird skies, clean waves, and a great little camp session. We couldn't have asked for a better initial run in the Bus.
We added multiple rider bios on our Team Page, so check it out. We also added some brief words on this seasons upcoming Tour. There is more to come as we finalize dates and get some photos of the Bus and our new 2008 Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV. Cya soon!
On the noteworthy newsfront for the day...a little bit of an interesting fact came through the NWR office today. For some time, Greg and I have known that his birthday of April 23rd and my birthday of April 24th (1-year apart) were a little number that brought Northwest Riders Clothing Company an odd little twist with us being both owners of the company and the same birth month (and nearly day). A bit later we hired on our lead designer, Trevor Kaiser. Talking to Trevor revealed that he also was born on April 23rd. This was a bit of a shock that brought us a good chuckle. Tonight, after receiving our new designer, Nomi Stirm's, bio for the site...we were treated to another crazy shock. It turns out Nomi's birthday is April 24th also. What does this little rant of mine mean? Not much really, it just made for a slightly weird, slightly scary, and very random (or not so) twist to our company.
So...if you were born on or around April 23-24 then please send us your resume. We should probably keep this little hot streak going so we have a good conversation starter next time we are out and about.
The new 2008 Northwest Riders Clothing Company web site officially launched today! We have a lot planned for this coming year and hope you all decide to take part in it. New limited clothing and gear is available now on the product pages. We have a lot more coming for the site with the Tour, Team, and other pages so be sure and check back here often. If there is anything you want to tell us or recommend, please send a comment. Thanks for the support!
Had breakfast in the bus this morning...this thing is sweet with the furniture in. Now it is just days away from being on the road. Next on the list is installing the massive stickers. Thanks to Daniel and Ejay at DiecutStickers.com for the sweet decals! Photos coming soon.
We have been super busy these last few days. The new product is in! Five tees, a flex fit hat, and an assortment of die-cut stickies. Browse around the product page and buy 'em up while you can.
Sitting here in the office plugging away on the new 2008 web site for Northwest Riders Clothing Company. We got the bus back from the mechanic and she is running like a top. 100% waste vegetable oil is our new fuel of choice...environmentally friendlier than straight diesel and gas for sure! We are installing furniture tonight and then it will be almost ready for the road. Keep checking back to the tour page for info on this season's summer tour and also to read up on the bus and the new 2008 Malibu Wakesetter LSV 23.
