Northwest Riders Clothing Co. is heading out to Tacoma to take part in the Go Skate Tacoma event and hang out to take in the festivities. We will have our booth set up with some clearance/closeout deals so stop by and say hello and save some cash on gear. We are looking forward to a great event!

We will be celebrating Go Skateboarding Day at Tollefson plaza this year in Tacoma. Since the opening of the plaza, skaters from all over Tacoma have wanted to skate the plaza but have been run off by police and other city officials. Skate stoppers were put out and no skate signs were posted, taking this community space away from the skate culture. Forcing specific community members out of the plaza has successfully kept Bmx and skateboarders from using the space. Currently Tollefson sits vacant, it is a dead space in the City of Tacoma. Now The Mayor of Tacoma (Mayor Strickland) is backing the project to include skateboarding in public spaces, for one day it will truly be a public space that all will be welcome. The day will include school programs helping youth find scholarships for college through the reach program, a best trick tournament, skate for fun, graffiti demos, and also learn city laws on skateboarder’s rights and just celebrate the culture. June 21st we will have one day to show the world what skateboarding can bring to the community.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
- 2:00 p.m. - Open Skate and REACH Workshop (GED and college help for off track youth) and other vendors (skate history/geart/clothes).
- 4:00 p.m. - Best Trick Skate Competition for 17 and younger.
- 5:30 p.m. - Best Trick Skate Competition for 18 and older.
- 7:30 p.m. - Awards for competition and recognition for all donators and community members involved.
- 8:30 p.m. - Mayor addresses the skateboard community in Tacoma, Interview with T-N-T.
- 9:00 p.m. - Live Bands/Open Skate.
- 10:30 p.m. - Tear Down operation.
